30/10/2023BARCELONA, A FAMILY FRIENDLY CITY!
Welcome to Casa Jam, families!
At Casa Jam Barcelona we are committed to family friendly tourism, so that both adults and children can enjoy the city. In addition, we promote a socially and environmentally responsible tourism, so we want to present alternatives that move away from the tourist offers that contribute to overcrowding.
Here are some ideas:
You can also surround yourself with science and learn a little more about the world and the universe in which we live in the CosmoCaixa. In this museum you can find endless facilities and exhibitions such as the planetarium, the Geological Wall or the impressive Flooded Forest. In addition, admission is free for children under 16 years and only 4 € for adults.
From the bottom of the sea we go to the mountains. If you feel like discovering magical and secret corners, go and enter the Laberint d’Horta. This park will make you feel that you have plunged into a fairy tale thanks to its perfectly trimmed cypresses. Admission is free on Wednesdays and Sundays; general admission is only 2,23€.
But this is not the only park you can find, Barcelona is full of safe spaces to play. Some have slides in the shape of a giant octopus as in the Parc de la Pegaso, others a swallow to climb, the Parc de l’Oreneta, and others with plenty of space to run. Here we leave you a link with the most beautiful playgrounds in Barcelona.
Another very special forest and perfect for moving the body is Barcelona Bosc Urbà. Who is afraid of heights? Do you dare to try a zip line? The forest has different circuits designed for the whole family to enjoy: zip lines, nets, lianas, bungee jumping, etc. Take a healthy snack with you so you don’t run out of energy!
Who likes chocolate, raise your hand! Did you know that in Barcelona there is the Museu de la Xocolata? and not only will they offer you to taste some chocolate that is delicious, but also, its purpose is to spread the history of chocolate, its origins, its traditions and its role in our society
Slowing down a bit after so much activity, another example of Barcelona being a family friendly city is stores like the Abracadabra bookstore. This bookstore is located in the Gothic Quarter and specializes in children’s and young adult literature. And another very interesting bookstore for lovers of Japanese culture is Haiku Barcelona. It is located in the neighborhood of Gràcia, less than 10 minutes from Casa Jam. Another very magical bookstore close to the hostel is Luz de Lula
Did you know that Gracia is a family neighborhood!
And to finish, if you feel like staying near the hostel, in the Barrio de Gràcia, you should know that it is a family friendly neighborhood, as it offers safe spaces, tranquility and at the same time with many activities for all members of the family. Here are some options:
La Teatreria, theatrical nursery and activities for children from 0 to 12 years old.
Teatre neu, a theater that offers children’s theater, impro show, musicals, magic shows…
La Nena, a chocolate cafeteria for the whole family.
Bateau Lune, a beautiful store with natural wood toys, educational, original and traditional toys… Toys for all ages.
And if it rains, we have El Cau, a stimulating space where families with small children can go and let them play freely.
